"STOP!"
"WHY!?!?"
"BECAUSE YOU'RE DRILLING A HOLE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN FLOOR!"
this was all while i was getting addison ready for bed. we decided tonight after i hooked the vcr up to the new to us tv in our bedroom, that maybe it was a good idea to hook up the cable that we'd been procrastinating on. so dave heads under the house in his work khakis, his good tennis shoes, with the flash light in tow. he decided to drill the hole from the bottom up which is what led to the above screaming match.
an hour later with me under the house, we officially have cable in our bedroom. great. now i can listen to dave giggle all night to comedy central, while i dream that i am standing on a stage naked. (to go along with the laughter) LMAO, man i'm funny.
anyway, addison had her first time out today. she got mad at me for not letting her have sixteen thousand pieces of "puppy chow" and then proceeded to the living room where she had a bowl of chex mix that she decided to throw all over the living room floor. she came around the corner to look at me guiltily and i knew that she had done something wrong and she KNEW she did something wrong. so i head to the living room and there is a disaster of chex mix on the floor. she still looked guilty and i knew i couldnt not punish her. so time out happened, in her little chair for five minutes. she cried the whole time but i noticed something after i told her she could get up. she was back to her old self. she survived being punished! it was a damn miracle! the only way that things can get better now, is if that really taught her to not do it again. only time will tell.
prior to her time out, i knew she was getting antsy. i could tell she needed to run some energy off so we headed outside. i decided that coat & hat was better than her destroying my living room (which you know she already did) so we went on out to the playhouse. i called my mom to chat for a minute (having withdraws) and i noticed addison crawing across the ground. i kept watching her and realized that she was feeling the tops of the dandelions in our yard. at first i started to wonder why she was doing that when i realized that she hadnt ever felt the top of a dandelion and how soft and "pretend" it looks. i wished i had my camera, i love sharing her firsts with people.
she's in bed now & went to bed calmly, with her little wave and spare binky. you would think that dave and i would be headed to bed early to watch our new cable, but instead we're spending quality time with our card table and st basil's cathedral puzzle. i'll always enjoy this time far more than any show on tv.

moments of our days
just some moments i dont want to forget...
at the store one day, addison was barefoot from her screaming to pull her socks off on our way there. she had already thrown the shoes, so taking off the socks was the next step. once we were at the store it would have been too much effort to put socks & shoes back on, so i carried her in barefoot. she was sitting in the cart when she pulled her feet up into the sitting area and said "tickle tick tickle tick" and acted like she was tickling her own feet. after that she paused and did a loud fake laugh "HA HA HA HA!" it was probably the funniest thing i've ever seen her do and reiterated that she is in fact - my child!
another thing she likes to do in the store is say her favorite word to everyone we pass. "HI!" "HI!" "HI!" one day she said it to a somewhat frightening looking man, whom i would have normally stayed away from, but he was getting hotdogs too... anyway, she said "HI!" and gave him a great big smile and i will never forget the look on his face and how he almost looked like he could cry when he said "HI!" back to her. its eye opening now non-judgemental children are and i can only hope and say that i am learning from her!
she has most recently started doing a cheesy smile, pulling her top teeth in. she likes to do this when someone says "where's that pretty smile!?" it is as well, something that screams THIS IS MY CHILD!
another shocker... when you ask her if she's hungry, she will pretend to chew and then run to the kitchen. she's got it down where the food is, right up to the fridge! i swear if she could reach the cupboards, she'd be getting her own cereal in the morning. i can wait for that! no growing up is allowed here.
a sad moment was the day she decided that she didnt want me rocking her to sleep anymore. she squirmed and waved bye-bye until i laid her down in her crib. when i lost my job, i finally had some snuggle time again - NAP TIME! :) i loved snuggling with her in the chair, sleeping for 2-2.5 hours and it was just pure bliss having her head on my chest again. up until recently - now she squirms and such until i ask her if she would like to take a nap. she then runs off to her bedroom and pulls on the crib rails until i put her in bed. she will lay down and is usually asleep before i even get out of the room. its great that she's such a good sleeper, but i will always cherish any cuddle time i get with my baby.

gardening is good for your soul.
today is the day that we are planting our garden. i'm well beyond stoked and will note that i wouldnt be getting to do this if i worked full time. another positive about being fired! YAY! :) anyway, i've already got a strawberry bed, which i cannot wait until it starts giving strawberries. i'm also going to be planting spinach, yellow tomatoes, cherry red tomatoes, onions, basil, and at the moment i cant remember what else. i'll be surprised if everything fits in my little garden, and even though its going to be work, i'm looking forward to it!
i hung clothes out on the line yesterday. i'm one of those people that look forward to the smell of my clothes after they've hung out on the line and love the feel of the crunchy towels when i get out of the shower. dave hasnt seemed to mind as of yet & i hope it stays that way the rest of the summer. i met the neighbor when i was taking them off of the line. he said his wife grew up in the country and was a wee bit jealous of my clothesline. i told him to put one in for her! :)
speaking of neighbors... we were outside last night, picking up the toys that were scattered all around the yard when the neighbor boy came outside. addison took off running towards him yelling "ADDY, ADDY, ADDY!" it was really cute, she was telling him her name, then standing at the fence, just wanting to play. someday! it was too late to play and time for her bath, so i finally talked her inside by asking her if she wanted to take a bath... and she walked inside and ran right to the bathtub. she never ceases to amaze me every day! yesterday was another monumental moment when i asked her if she wanted to take a nap and she ran to her bedroom and shook the crib! i put her in, she laid down and i swear she was asleep before i could even close the door. another amazement! :)
saturday i'm having a lia sophia jewelry party. i've never had a party like this before, you know, tupperware, pampered chef, etc... so i'm a little nervous about it. mostly nervous that people wont come, or that a ton of people will come and i wont have enough food! i will say i'd rather have people come & run out of food than the other. so we shall see!

the one about the poop.
why does my child insist on taking a dump in the bathtub?
in other news, we went to story time today. of course, my kid has to be the naughty one... the one that has to stand up front or sit on the librarian's lap. not that the librarian minds, but i worry that other moms mind. its been nice having reassurance from the librarian and becca though, it makes it a bit easier. she loves going to story time & is such a ham while we're there.
this weekend we organized her closet. man that kid has a lot of clothes! its about time to go through them with her size and the season changing. we'll see what we figure out. its hard to get rid of stuff.
yesterday was my visit to the dentist. i hate going to the dentist. plus i've been having some tenderness and sensitivity so i knew that there would be something wrong. turns out i have 6, yes SIX cavities. i hate it! i told her that i'd need to bring headphones and she gave me some valium to take before i come. thank the lord! i totally would not be going back if i wasnt in pain. i guess i should get better about flossing...
so i've been thinking about tattoos and piercings lately, its driving me crazy! i would like to get addison's initials tattoo'd on my wrist, but i know my mom would just have a coronary! and for a piercing i'd love to get my other tragus pierced. we'll see on that one because i know that wouldnt bother my mom AS much. :) i've also thought of Addison's foot print and her initials on my foot, but i've heard that tattoos on the foot fade so much! i'd hate to go through that pain and then have it fade away. eff that!
saturday i'm having a lia sophia party. hopefully people come. i need some free jewelry dammit! and i dont want to make too much food if hardly no one shows up. blah. so much for RSVP! maybe that means they're not coming?!?
time to shower while i can, alone! if addison is awake i usually put her in the shower with me, which was all cute and fun in the beginning... now she hogs the water and i spend most of the shower with shampoo dripping into my eyes and freezing cold!
